AlphaProfit Newsletter: Is it time to punt equities?
March 12, 2007
Sugar Land, TX

Sector Fund Leaders 2000-2002

The S&P 500 is down nearly 4% from its recent high of 1459.68 set on February 20. Does this decline mean, it is time to punt all equity investments?

Not if you are in the right sectors. In the 2000-2002 bear market during which the S&P 500 index lost nearly 38% of its value, being invested in selected sectors paid-off big time. Gold, home finance, and medical delivery rewarded investors with returns of 68%, 45%, and 44%, respectively. Out of the 39 Fidelity Select Funds available then, 20 actually made money from 2000 through 2002.

While index funds and most diversified domestic funds offer virtually no protection in a secular bear market, sector funds can buck the trend.

The AlphaProfit Sector Investors' Newsletter is the premier investing resource investors look to for sector insights. Since inception on September 30, 2003, the Newsletter's Focus and Core model portfolios have gained 117% and 74%, respectively compared to the 50% gain for the S&P 500 index.

The March Report is published today.
